We are looking to build a relationship with a reliable local handyperson, tradesperson or small maintenance business who can help us with small repair and maintenance jobs from time to time.
These are usually smaller jobs where it may not make sense to obtain a fixed-price quotation in advance. Instead, we are looking for someone we can contact when needed, discuss the likely time involved, agree an hourly or day rate, and then have the work carried out and invoiced properly.
We know that some excellent local tradespeople and handypersons get most of their work through word of mouth and may not have a website, Facebook page or online business listing. That is absolutely fine. We are still very keen to hear from reliable local people, whether or not they have an online presence.
If you would like to be considered but would prefer not to complete the online form, please use the Contact Us page to send us your phone number and a short message. A trustee can then give you a call and go through the form with you.
Typical jobs may include small repairs, minor maintenance, decorating, adjustments, inspections, basic carpentry, simple fittings, small external works, and other general handyperson tasks.
We are not looking for someone to undertake specialist electrical, gas or other regulated work unless they hold the appropriate qualifications. Larger works may still be quoted separately or tendered.
We would like to hear from individuals or small businesses who:
are based in or very near Chippenham;
are practical, reliable and used to working in occupied homes;
can be easily contacted by phone and email;
are tidy, courteous and professional in their appearance and conduct;
understand the importance of being respectful around residents and their homes;
can provide checkable references, ideally from estate agents, landlords, property managers, care settings, charities, local businesses or other organisations for whom they have carried out similar work;
hold suitable public liability insurance;
can issue invoices and accept payment by bank transfer from the charity.
Completing the form does not guarantee work. The trustees may contact suitable applicants for an informal discussion.
